About us…
The greatest joys of a market gardener's life lie in the simplest of pleasures: the sweetness of the first ripe tomato of the year, the satisfying crunch of a radish plucked straight from the earth or the spark of excitement in seeing a crimson-tinged cherry dangling from the tree. These experiences mean so much to us and we’re thrilled to share them with you!
Welcome to Five Acres - a 'Seed to Plate' canteen, where our goal is simple: to grow and cook food that's good for people, the planet and communities. We're genuinely proud of the nourishing and delicious recipes we create using produce grown on our own organic market garden a short distance away in Falkland, Fife.
Our journey into the world of food and farming began in 2014 with a pocketful of seeds, two spades and five acres of rented land. Today at Falkland Kitchen Farm, accompanied by our one-year-old son Eli, we grow over fifty varieties of vegetables, fruits and herbs. We’re committed to producing food in a way that works with nature rather than against it and that protects our soils, species and ecosystems.
Most of the food you’ll eat here has been grown on our own plot, but we’re also exceptionally privileged to be able to source an incredible selection of ingredients from some of our personal food heroes from across Fife and beyond, including: East Neuk Market Garden, Largo Walled Garden, Meadowsweet Organics, Scotland the Bread, Pillars of Hercules, Wild Hearth Bakery and the Falkland Estate.
We truly hope you enjoy eating with us today! Your support for local food and farming is deeply appreciated!
